What is Open Door?

Since 1972, Open Door has been a non-profit service organization whose goal is to assist families and individuals in need within the WaNee community. There is NO PAID staff! There's just a group of volunteers who believe that  service to others is their reward. Open Door was organized as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization  to provide assistance in the form of food, clothing, utility payment, hotel/motel and other emergency expenses for the needy individuals and families located in the WaNee area.

How is Open Door Funded?

The depot facility, including heat and electricity, is donated by the City of Nappanee. The only outlay of money is for liability insurance and local telephone service. All other costs of operation are either donated or volunteered. Obviously your donated dollars go much further in a totally volunteer organization.
